I want...

The giveaway winner is JOY from Ontario! Thanks for entering, everyone.
I was invited to the new Sobeys in Evanston; a community in North West Calgary, for a health food reconnaissance mission.
Keto shopping lists, recipes, and more! Start keto with this FREE 5-step guide.
I'm ready! The new Evanston store was built to reflect Sobeys’ commitment to providing Canadians with better food experiences that allow them to enjoy fresh and tasty food, shop for healthy and wholesome products, make sustainable choices and save time.
Accessibility to healthy food and sustainable living is a major passion of mine. The potential of having a space in Calgary that aligns with the my values and the values of my business made the invite even more appealing.
Plus, a grocery shopping spree in the name of research? How could I refuse?
I spent over an hour in the store. I went through every isle, inspected each product that caught my eye… and I have to say, I was impressed!
There were gluten-free items sprinkled throughout the store. I found these crackers in the cheese section!
And I really appreciated the multiple food allergy alert sections throughout the store.
There were loads of different whole grain, even gluten-free, bread options in the bakery.
All the dairy-free milks one could dream of. Flax, hemp, rice, almond, soy, coconut, you name it.
Gluten-free porridge, wheat-free cereal, organic options…
Even vegan butter!
My favorite soy-free, non-dairy cheese.
And dairy-free yogurts (that cultured coconut milk yogurt is so thick and creamy).
A dairy-free collection wouldn’t be complete without dairy-free ice cream and Sobeys had my favorite gluten-free chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream!
The part that surprised me the most was the row of kombucha. Kombucha. At Sobeys. That’s when I knew I’d found something special.
You know how much I love my kombucha.
So, what did I end up purchasing?
Ground Cardamom: to use on this crispy chicken thighs recipe I’m working on for you for 2014. It’s going to blow your mind.
Roasted Ground Coriander: I’m sure I’ll use this when I make one of my 13 curry recipes!
Cold-Pressed Coconut Oil: between all of the Christmas baking and day-to-day cooking, we go through a lot of this stuff. I can never have enough in the pantry.
Organic Squash: I’ve been indulging in this Roasty Toasty Grain-free Porridge on the ultra-cold mornings.
Organic Kale: for my infamous Rockin’ Roots Salad… that I eat at least 5 times a week.
Free Range, Omega 3 Eggs: we add eggs to our smoothies. Yeh, we’re hardcore, Rocky style.
Gluten-free All Purpose Baking Flour: because we practically live on these Sugar-free Waffles on the weekends and this is the only gluten-free flour mix that doesn’t hurt my stomach.
Antibiotic-free Chicken Thighs: to continue testing the crazy crispy chicken thigh recipe mentioned above.
Bio-K Fermented Soy Drink: it’s like kefir… but for peeps that can’t do dairy. Gluten-free, made from Non-GMO soy and boasts over 50 billion active bacteria per bottle. Bio-K also makes this fermented rice drink if you can’t do soy.
I can definitely, without a doubt, tell you that this store has just about everything a Healthful Pursuit-er could ever want in a grocery store… but I didn’t check to see if they had quinoa sooo I’ll have to get back to you on that. Couldn’t live without quinoa, no siree!
