I want...

A simple keto porridge recipe, made without the oats to cut down on overall carb count. Sprinkled with ground cardamom with a hint of white chocolate.
This keto porridge recipe is a breakfast favorite in our house and is inspired by my grain-filled not-keto-at-all porridge from back in 2012… you know, before I knew that keto was a thing.

I'm ready! It’s insane for me to think how long I struggled with a grain-filled, high-carbohydrate diet until I happened upon keto back in 2014. Keto changed my life, and quick, making my high-carb diet a thing of the past… for good.
Not many people do keto breakfast. Many of us skip traditional breakfast and go straight for our first meal of the day… lunch.
But, who says that lunch needs to be the traditional lunch-type foods?
Even if you’re skipping breakfast time; that first meal the moment you get up, doesn’t mean you have to skip on enjoying breakfast food!
I’ve been known to make this simple keto recipe as my first meal of the day at 2pm in the afternoon!
The cool thing about the keto diet is that traditional meal times go out the window – you get to make what you want, when you want, and stop being a slave to the meal schedule.
Traditional porridge has oats. But not here! Instead of oats, or another type of grain such as millet, quinoa, or rice, I used hemp hearts.
If you’re not familiar with hemp hearts, they’re the heart of the hemp seed, or rather, a hemp seed that’s had its shell removed.
Because of their fiber content equals their total carbohydrate content, hemp hearts are a 0 net carb food making them a fabulous keto ingredient to replace oats in your favorite oat-based recipes.
I’ve used hemp hearts in various oat recipes like these chocolate bars, granola, and even this grain-free keto tabouleh.
While hemp hearts are a common ingredient in North America, it can be hard to find in other places of the world. So, if you really want to make keto porridge, here’s another keto porridge recipe where you can replace the hemp hearts with almond flour and still get the same result.
I’ve been keto since 2014, and I’ve seen a lot of things.
